If charging does not start as it should, the most common errors are as follows:
- Other consumption in the system is too high
- Minimum current is too low
- Charging cable
- RCD and fuse
- Pilot cable
- Scheduling
- Rotated from measurement device to charging box
- Settings
Other consumption in the system is too high
As a partner, you can see this if you go to the power meter under the menu item "power meter". There you can see the consumption graphs for the last 24h and the last 7 days. Take the time of the charging session when the customer experienced problems and see what the consumption was at the time. Also review in general if the customer has high consumption and possibly suggest upgrading the main fuse.
As an end user, you can ask your partner to access the graphs from your electricity meter and see the consumption of your installation.
Minimum current is too low
All cars have a minimum current they can charge at the lowest level. This differs between car models. If the load balancing is set to a lower limit than what the car can handle, charging will not be able to start.
Charging cable
If the socket lights up red, it is very likely that the charging cable has not been able to lock into the socket. This can be due to many different factors - a poorly designed cable, the solanoid (locking mechanism) is out of position or you have not been careful enough with the connection.
To increase the chances of the cable locking into the Charge Amps Aura:
First insert the charging cable into the car.
Unlock the Charge Amps Aura with RFID or the Charge Amps App if used.
Insert the charging cable into the Charge Amps Aura, push it in firmly and slightly upwards.
RCD and fuse
If the socket lights up red, it may also be that the internal earth fault circuit breaker has tripped.
Pilot cable
If charging does not start and not even a charging session is visible in the Charge Amps Cloud, the pilot cable may be out. The pilot cable is a red/black cable with a white connector that runs from the socket to the top of each circuit board.
Scheduling
If charging does not start during scheduling, the reason may be as follows:- The charging box loses connection and cannot retrieve information for scheduling from Charge Amps Cloud.
If you have a Volvo charging hybrid, Volvo has a problem with their plug-in hybrids not waking up during scheduling.
For older Volvo plug-in hybrids that are Sensus-based, you can schedule in the Volvo on call app.
If it is a Google-based plug-in hybrid, this is unfortunately not possible. You can bypass this problem if you have an iPhone with this function. Automate a shortcut to open the Volvo app at certain times of the night to "wake up" the car.
Make sure the socket is set to scheduling. The symbol shows a red bell.
Rotated from measurement device to charging box
It is common that something has rotated either in the system or during installation. You can troubleshoot this by deactivating the load balancing and then go to the charging box and set it to 1-phase. Then start a charge on L1. Then look under the measurement device at the 24h graph and see that the graph for L1 rises in line with the charge. Repeat the procedure for L2 and L3. If the correct graph rises in comparison with the phase you have chosen where charging should take place, everything is correct. However, if a different phase rises than the charge you selected, it is rotated somewhere. Then check that incoming L1, L2 and L3 correspond to incoming L1, L2 and L3 in the charging box. Also check that the current transformers for the current meter (device) are on the correct phase and that they are correctly placed in the terminal block.
Settings
Make sure that nothing is ticked that should not be.- Make sure that the socket is "on" and not "off" and that "schedule" is off if it should not be activated.
Make sure RFID lock is not on if it should not be.
If RFID should be enabled and the charging box is load balanced, make sure that RFID is correctly configured in the admin interface. RFID must be linked to a user and a charging station.
