This article is intended for partners and installers who have Charge Amps Cloud Partner account.
Firmware upgrade is now possible directly in Charge Amps Partner Portal without contacting Charge Amps Support. You can download the latest FW to your charger simply by pressing the “Upgrade button”.
Prerequisites
- The charger must be online;
- The button is available only for OCPP chargers (not CAPI);
- An available firmware version is higher than the installed one.
Step by step instructions
When all prerequisites met, on the Charger page (the properties widget) you can see ‘upgrade’ button in the ‘Settings’ section. When it is selected, you will see a drop-down list with all available FW versions - make sure to always choose the latest one.
The screenshot below shows step by step how to proceed:
- ‘Upgrade’ will appear when all pre-conditions are met.
- Once it is clicked, you get the pop-up window with a drop-down list of all available version(s).
- Select the new FW version and click ‘Ok’.
- The process will start and appear as ‘Pending update’ with clock icon. It will disappear when the upgrade is done.
You can follow the progress in the ‘OCPP Communication Logs’. The logs will start with ‘UpdateFirmware’ message and look like this:
When the operation is done, the charger will reboot and get the latest firmware version. This could be checked in the log with ‘Get Configuration’ message.
During the upgrade process, the charger will be unavailable for normal operations.
If the download fails
Try again and restart the charger from the Partner portal. When online again, try upgrade again.
If it still fails, please make sure the network is working properly. Technical details TCP Port 20 and 21 must be opened in the network equipment prior to FW download.
